Commonly known as Jo'burg or Jozi, this is the vibrant heart of South Africa. A rapidly changing city looking optimistically towards the future. The tour takes us to Houghton - Nelson Mandela Estate - the leader's former home. then proceed via Munro drive to the Constitution Hill - a former prison complex that bears testament to South Africa's turbulent past and is today a museum and home to the Constitutional Court. Next is the vibrant Braamfontein which centres on Wits university, home to the Planetarium, Art museum and the Playground market (Saturday only) We continue over Mandela bridge via Newtown to the mining district of Marshaltown - an open air street museum with sculptures chronicling South Africa's mining history. Maboneng , Hallmark house - a truly unique mix of cultures, music, art and design that recalls its turbulent past and celebrates its vibrant present. Visit the rooftop for a view and cocktail( own account ). We end our half day tour at 44 on Stanley - garden courtyard complex with boutiques and chic restaurants. Drop off at the hotel.
